A brief history of the CCC in Sevier County, their works, and their accomplishments. The Civilian Conservation Corps was a voluntary public work relief program created from President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal that operated from 1933 to 1942 for unemployed, unmarried men (ages 18-25) as a result of lack of jobs during the Great Depression. The CCC provided manual labor jobs that focused on the conservation and development of natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments.
